A number of applications have been made across the Borough to erect 5G telecom monopole masts and associated cabinets at street level. Two that affect Wimbledon Village are on Church Road next to the All England Tennis Ground and on St Mary’s Road by St Mary’s church field. The former would be 17 metres tall and the latter 18 metres.
We consider that these structures would be visually very dominant in sensitive areas and that they fail to follow national and local guidance. We have written to Merton planning department to object to both applications. Our letter on the St Mary’s Road application can be seen here.
