Project Fundraising:
We have raised about £90,000 in donations, to add to the £94,000 originally provided by the Wimbledon Society. Our costs have increased due to steep price rises in the construction industry. It will now cost about £200,000 to complete the design and build of the new displays. The Society has been able to meet the extra construction costs from its reserves. We are so grateful for all the generous grants and donations we have received to enable us to proceed with the project. Fundraising continues to help meet the running costs of the museum once it reopens, and the cost of special features of the new displays, including, we hope, a film about the history of the museum. We will be maintaining our long and honourable tradition of Free Entry, and of course the Museum continues to be run entirely by Volunteers.
The Borough of Merton has been appraised of the Project and fully endorses the importance of the Museum to Wimbledon and the Borough of Merton as a whole especially to local schools, interns and libraries.
