At a meeting of the Merton Park Ward Resident’s Association & Councillors taking place on the evening of the 4th April 2023 the Dorset Hall Group (DHG) handed over responsibility for Dorset Hall the Grade 11 listed property to the local residents and Independent Councillors of Merton Park Ward.
After nearly two and a half years of intensive work & negotiation with Clarion Housing Association, the building’s owners, the Borough of Merton and Historic England, DHG has achieved its objectives of preventing further dereliction and ensuring the building is now sound.
The Options Appraisal commissioned by DHG during 2022 and project managed by the National Trust has provided a springboard for a business plan reflecting Dorset Hall’s political heritage and architectural significance.
Following these reports Clarion have promised to find a sympathetic new owner, who will respect both its political and historic past.
