Government Announces Planning Changes

On 21 July the Government announced plans to revitalise town centres and allow homeowners to extend their properties upwards. You can read the Government Press Release here.

The detail of the changes is not yet clear. For instance, the requirement on householders who wish to add an extra two storeys to their house to “carefully consider the impact on neighbours and the appearance of the extension”.

We also note the Government’s intention to reform the whole planning system. We shall await the details of that with interest.
