Sarah approaches her textile making in a way that adopts various intuitive methods which are highly considered and committed to the use of sustainable materials that and are often embedded with narrative.

Her ethos as a textile artist is to recycle, re-use and re-purpose existing resources. Her works are made entirely from various found objects including cloth that take on different forms depending on the materials ’properties. The transformative process of Sarah’s making, allows industrial subjects to often contradict the softness associated with textiles.

‘Place ’is important to Sarah’s work which is often created in response to an event or a visit to a particular location. Her works aim to transform our invisible emotions experienced in that place into tangible artworks.

In her practice, she has the freedom to explore how textiles resonate with a particular place or the time they were made and used. Her focus is to re-imagine new potential uses for discarded materials.

This exhibition is a curation of of Sarah’s work created since 2021. It is her first solo textile art exhibtion and has been a collaboration with and generously supported by Wimbledon Museum.

A new textile piece titled “A Kindness of Strangers” features in this exhibition and will become a part of the museum’s collection.

Sarah is inviting visitors to the show to have input to a new textile work that celebrates the kindness of strangers in our community that, when finished, will be displayed in Wimbledon’s public spaces and places of worship.
