Another month and another exclusive outing for members of the Wimbledon Society.  This time it was to the newly restored, repurposed and re-imagined Canons House in Mitcham.  The house, Grade II*, is owned and run by Merton Council for all of us in the borough.

Canons House is also now the base for many community initiatives, businesses, and creative activities.

After a tour of the building – both inside and out – to see how an old building can be given a modern use, the group were given a history of the house – told through fabrics and the original owners’ connections to the East India Company.

Many thanks to Elizabeth and Portia for their hospitality, knowledge and enthusiasm and for making us at the Wimbledon Society feel so welcome.
