Southfields residents held a public meeting to hear about the future of Wimbledon Park, in relation to the AELTC planning application to build on the Grade II* Heritage, Metropolitan Open Land. Both Merton and Wandsworth Councils are currently considering the AELTC’s application to develop the former golf club land.
Over 300 residents attended the meeting where presentations were given on the environmental impacts and the legal situation. Both local MPs – Fleur Anderson (Putney) and Stephen Hammond (Wimbledon) – spoke in opposition to the plans.
A straw poll at the end of the meeting showed that no one attending supported the AELTC’s plans.
Here’s a checklist of what you can do
1. If you haven’t yet done so, its not to late to submit a planning objection  – send your letter both to Merton (quoting reference 21/P2900 ) and Wandsworth (quoting reference 2021/3609).
