Although the Council’s Planning Committee approved the application to demolish St George’s House East on 10 February and to replace it with a new 12-storey building, that is not the end of the matter.
Because of the height and size of the new building, it has to be referred to the Mayor of London. We have written to the GLA reminding them that the proposed building fails to meet the height restrictions in Merton’s planning document for Wimbledon Town Centre: and asking them to refuse permission.
